“Needed an oil pan gasket changed. My car does not have one so sealant was required. Marvin recommended changing the valve cover gaskets as well, during the diagnostic. I agreed. Prior to the repair my car only issue was it leak oil. After the “repair” and $650 later, my car did not Work. There was not a quality check to ensure the car worked when he finished his work. When I got to the car, there were sensors left unplugged 2 of them; which caused the car to take in too much air. He also broke the clamp on the valve cover. And tried to pretend I needed another one, when in fact he broke it! I had to have it secured with a zip tie because my engine was rattling and it wasn’t before he touched it. I reached out to see if he could correct what he had messed up. He text me he would be here in the morning. I texted around 10 am asking what time should I expect him and my text was left on Read. When I heard from him it was 3 PM the next day. And he only called to argue with me because I reported his as a scam. Yelling at me saying that I needed to be patient with him because he has a life and kids. The he said “ma’am it’s Sunday” but according to him, he was already at a job. I’m not sure what Sunday has to do with it or his kids. He ends the call by saying well so what if you had to pay someone else to fix it, I got paid. This was my teenage daughter’s money she had worked to get her car fixed and he felt it was ok to be out here lying about his skills and abilities. I will own my part in this entire fiasco. I should have declined his service because our initial interaction for the diagnostic, he was two hours late. I looked passed that because of tunnel traffic and it was a week day. I decided to allow him to do the work because I am a big advocate of promoting young black entrepreneurs. When he arrived on Saturday to do the work, he had his wife and children in the car. I should’ve said never mind at that point, however, I like to see young black entrepreneurs win. He stiffed! My engine still leaks. AND, I had to call a second mechanic to reconnect the sensors and tighten the valve cover in place. That cost me an additional 125. Marvin’s prices may seem reasonable; however, the work is shoddy and unpredictable. It’s almost like he’s practicing on cars. BE AWARE!!!!! He is not licensed, insured or bonded.”
